The Truth About Where I Was

I know what it feels like to be fucking lost. Depression swallowed my life. I became addicted to laughing gas and struggled with cocaine. I smoked up to 80 cigarettes a day. I shut myself in my bedroom using drugs, and I was so isolated I pissed in bottles rather than walk out of the room. That is how far down I went.

I Was The Villain Of My Own Story

I attempted suicide twice. I made choices I am not proud of. But I am not ashamed of telling the truth about my past, because I am fucking grateful I survived it. I was not fixed by one inspirational quote or one magical morning.

How I Started Rebuilding

I asked for help. I began cutting out the things and people that kept pulling me backward. I learned to make one better choice, then another. Minute by minute. Hour by hour. Day by day. It took me about two years to find myself again.

What Happened Next

I returned to movement, running, and cycling. I have run for 12 hours, run from Los Angeles to San Francisco, and cycled from San Francisco to Los Angeles. I have pushed myself further than I once thought possible. But none of those miles matters more than the first day I decided to stay alive and try again.

Why I Made This

You do not have to run a marathon. You might need to get out of bed, take a shower, eat, or send one message. I know how fucking hard those things can be. I FUCKING GOT THROUGH THAT. There is no shame in needing help. Always remember, you are number one. Look after yourself.
